Reiki (pronounced ‘ray-key’) is a Japanese healing therapy that helps to balance the body’s natural energy. It is a completely natural therapy which encourages and assists the body, mind and spirit’s natural healing ability.
The underlying philosophy of reiki is that if a person’s ‘life force energy’ is low, they are more likely to be unwell or stressed. A Reiki session may help your body to heal itself.
This form of therapy aims to increase energy levels and promote relaxation and wellbeing, particularly with stress-related conditions.
How Will I Feel During a Reiki Session?
Many people fall into a state of deep relaxation during a session. Reiki can also work on a deeper level and some people may experience emotional release from past trauma. Symptoms of toxin release may follow sessions, but Reiki is non-intrusive and can work alongside other therapies and medication.
During a Reiki session you will lie down or sit in a chair and close your eyes, whilst I place my hands just above your body in a sequence of positions, which usually promotes a deep state of relaxation. During a reiki session, you may feel warmth or cold, a tingling sensation, slight twitching or you may feel absolutely nothing. There is no right or wrong answer, everybody is different.
